Cinderella - Pantomime
I wrote the pantomime Cinderella to be performed in January 2022. The project required creating a captivating script that would engage audiences of all ages while maintaining the traditional elements of a pantomime.
The Process:
Script Development and Conceptualisation – I started by outlining the key plot points and comedic elements that would make the show entertaining and accessible to families. Focusing on humour, character dynamics, and the traditional pantomime structure, I ensured the story would resonate with both children and adults. Through careful planning and drafting, I crafted a narrative that balanced classic fairy tale themes with modern twists.
Character Development and Dialogue – With the core story established, I focused on bringing the characters to life through engaging dialogue and humorous exchanges. Each character was designed to embody a distinct personality that would enhance the audience’s experience, with punchlines and interactions tailored to create memorable moments on stage.
Collaboration with the Creative Team – Throughout the process, I worked closely with the production team, ensuring that the script aligned with the director’s vision, the actors’ abilities, and the overall staging requirements. This collaboration allowed for adjustments to be made that would bring the story to life in the most effective way possible.
Outcome: The Cinderella pantomime was performed to great success, with positive feedback from audiences who enjoyed the blend of traditional pantomime humour and fresh, modern elements. The final production demonstrated my ability to write engaging, family-friendly scripts while maintaining the timeless appeal of classic stories.
